XnView_dwg1.PNG (9.56 KiB) Viewed 1911 times I checked the format and they are in autocad 2013 format. I have the low resolution issue with all the dwg files, not just one. Attached is what I saw in both Browser and Viewer. Sorry I could not upload the dwg file as this is project related. If you are having a problem displaying a particular DWG file satisfactorily perhaps it is a limitation of the file: do you have a file you can upload to illustrate the problem (2MiB the current forum attachment limit, and in a ZIP or similar archive so that it can be attached)? ![]() Put another way, you can zoom in and in with a vector shape and the outline remains smooth, limited only by the screen resolution. Image viewers always ultimately display pixels!Ī scalable vector font, as in a word processor or in a PDF file, is rendered on the screen as pixels, the point is that vector content does not degrade when scaled the way that a bitmap font or graphic degrades. It would be good if there is a way to force it to show as a vector, otherwise is there an option to set the resolution? It can only take over file types that have not been associated.I think XnView MP currently show dwg file as a picture in both browser and viewer, not as vectors, if you zoom in you will see the pixels. You can set checkboxes during or after install, but they won't affect file types already associated with other software. IrfanView is an example of incompatibility with Windows 8. Everything must be handled through system dialogs, such asĪ new notification "You have new apps." In short, if a file type is already associated with a program, you can't change it from within another program. "The file type associations model has changed in Windows 8. Other people have had problems in W/8, and. I can go to Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Default Programs\Set Associations > Associate a program or protocol, and change a file association, so i switched jpeg to Windows image viewer, which opened a jpeg directly, and then i switched it back again to XnView, but it still acts as before.Īpparently you can also only change the program that is associated with an extension, but not delete an entry. as i cannot deselect anything in Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Default Programs\Set Default Programs\ and choosing a program: all i can do is Select all. Perhaps someone with XnView installed can try to change a jpg to jpeg and see if XnView opens it directly when opened from a folder using Windows explorer.Įvidently there is a another issue with W/8. But if i change a jpg to jpeg then it will not, as described before, unless you use the shell extension or from within the program. If i change the extension from jpeg to jpg then XnView opens it directly when opened from a folder using Windows explorer, as with others images. Thanks for looking into it.Įdit: Here is another twist. If i use the right click "Send to" option to send it to XnView (as i placed a shortcut to it in the Send to folder (C:\Users\putyourusername\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\SendTo) then it opens the file as it should.Īgain, this is not a big deal, just a quirk that takes a few secs longer, only for opening that format, or at least the printkey version of it. And as XnView will open the file from within the program or via the shell extension shows that the issue is not a lack of ability. jpeg is associated with XnView, which is why it opens the program, if not the image, when i click on a jpeg file to open it. jpeg but that wasn't immediately evident when I looked yesterday with Show / Hide file extensions set to the Windows 7 default off setting - I only normally display extensions when I need to see them. Looking again at the file you uploaded, the extension is indeed. ![]() jpeg extension is already associated the issue might be the possible bug XnTriq mentioned above. jpg and other image extensions associated won't open. jpeg extension on your computer is XnView, as having the. ![]() I think you need to check that the application associated with the. jpeg - in your original post you referred to the plug-ins you had installed which were mainly JPEG2000 format, which is effectively an entirely different image format. It seems clear now that your issue arises or arose from the two alternative JPEG file format extensions. I changed it to save as jpg and XnView opens that fine.
